Job Description

ABOUT US:Grain Millers is an international agri-business with interests in whole grain manufacturing, merchandising, Grain, and oilseed milling and other Value-added Manufacturing. We are one of the North America #39;s premier Oat Milling companies that supplies customers both locally and globally. Our plants are located across North America with our Canadian headquarters in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.POSITION SUMMARY:Grain Millers is seeking an experienced HR Director to lead our Human Resources department primarily at our Yorkton, SK while offering support at the Saskatoon and Rycroft facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing unions (negotiations and labour relations), providing day-to-day HR and plant operations support, and executing succession planning activities led by corporate Human Resources.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage union negotiations, ensuring compliance with labour laws.
  • Partner with the company sponsored succession planning process and drive regular support on findings and follow-through on commitments to develop and maintain a robust talent pipeline and organizational continuity.
  • Oversee daily HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll, benefits, RRSP, compensation administration, and compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Support human safety and environmental elements via employee treatment, HR policies, while promoting and fostering positive work culture.
  • Collaborate with plant management to support operational goals, address workforce challenges, and enhance employee engagement and productivity.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and legal requirements.
  • Design and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills, leadership capabilities, and overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Foster a positive work environment through effective communication, conflict resolution, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal labour laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • This position may occasionally be required to travel both in Canada and internationally to attend conferences, meetings and other industry and local events. Additionally, you may be required to represent the Company and engage in presenting and public speaking
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master #39;s degree is preferred. CPHR designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 10 years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in managing union negotiations and labor relations.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or food processing industry is preferred.
  • Strong background in succession planning and talent management.
  • Excellent knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and regulations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with plant management and other stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
