Job Description

Our 100 Mile Lumber Division is currently seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of:Quality ControlReporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be a key member of the plant management team, working to support the Superintendent. The individual will focus on maximizing lumber quality and recovery while continually improving process flow. The primary focus for the individual will be to fine tune the auto grading technology, support all planer personnel on day to day operations affecting lumber recovery and quality.Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrated strong work ethic
  • Working with all process centers to achieve maximum LRF and grade return in both Sawmill and Planer
  • Intricate communication and oversight of drying programs, while working with the Chief Engineer to ensure excellence in quality/grade.
  • Due to the nature and complexity of current optimization and controls technology, a solid grasp of electronics, computer, controls technology or the ability to quickly assimilate these technologies is a key asset
Our ideal candidate possesses:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • In addition, qualified applicants will have excellent computer skills
  • A Degree, Diploma or equivalent in Wood Processing, Forestry, Engineering, Science or Manufacturing or optimization experience
  • A Lumber Grading Ticket is also considered an asset
