Business Development ManagerActon, ONFull-TimeReference Number: CAN-ON-ACT-124-281022SUMMARYCanWel is a leader in integrated building siding systems experiencing exceptional growth in the Ontario market. This has created an exciting opportunity for a new Business Development Manager, who will be the leader for a new team at CanWel comprised of outside sales specialists and inside sales specialists focusing strictly on siding products.Targeting residential and commercial business development, this role is responsible for introducing and growing CanWel’s portfolio of siding products to architects, specifiers, developers/contractors, engineers, designers, and building owners.RESPONSIBILITIESBusiness Development

  • Identify, cultivate, and grow relationships with architects, specifiers, developers/contractors, engineers, designers, and building owners in order to develop strategic partnerships positioning CanWel’s products as the primary choice for building projects.
  • Conduct product knowledge presentations and product recommendations to customer base.
  • Develop strategies to progress sales opportunities from identification stage to closed business.
  • Develop and implement short and long-term sales plans and strategies to achieve growth targets.
  • Manage sales reporting including overall sales revenue, gross margin, and forecast and pipeline opportunities.
People Management
  • Coach and manage Outside Sales Specialists to achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
  • Coach and manage Inside Sales Specialists to deliver excellent customer service by processing custom siding orders accurately, ordering siding inventory precisely, and producing take-offs and quotes correctly.
  • Promote effective use of the CRM by Outside Sales Specialists.
  • Ensure good call planning habits are established and utilization of professional consultative selling skills
RequirementsEXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a business development role, and managing an outside business-to-business sales team.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the siding industry.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESSales
  • Previous outside sales experience required in the business-to-business market.
  • Proven track record of excellence in sales activity using consultive sales process.
  • Previous experience developing sales programs that generate long-term business opportunities.
  • Comfortable with call planning and reporting using a CRM.
  • Have met or exceeded sales targets on a consistent basis.
  • Building industry or trade experience is preferred, especially siding products
  • High level understanding of construction, blueprints, and building methods is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong business relationships with major accounts, specifiers, architects, building owners, developers/contractors, installers, municipalities, and designers.
TechnicalOther
  • Effective people management and coaching skills
  • Strong relationship builder – able to establish both internal and external working relationships in order to identify and implement strategies for business growth
  • Excellent communication skills for presentations and at a capacity to influence sales, in person and over the phone, with customers at various levels
  • Good computer skills; very comfortable with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and CRM systems.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license with a clean driving record. Maintaining a clean driving record is a condition of employment.
  • Ability to travel within Ontario.
  • Requirement for minimum office presence of 1 to 2 days per week. This may vary week to week.
Education
  • Post-secondary education in business or building industry.
  • Formal sales training is required.
  • Certified Sales Professionals (CSP) designation is desirable.
  • The candidate will be expected to achieve the CSP designation within the first two years of employment.
