We recognize the individual needs of our staff while supporting and assisting them to reach their full potential.We are seeking a Shipper/Receiver based out of our Acton, ON office.Role Purpose: Under the direction of the Shop Supervisor, the position is responsible for the shipping, receiving, routing and verification of all parts, supplies, materials, equipment and stock. Maintains, updates and verifies accuracy of records for inventory purposes. Prepares merchandise to be returned to suppliers or delivered to customers. Handles all shipping/receiving related queries with suppliers, freight companies and internal and external customers. Responsible for internal trucking and equipment coordination.Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervising and delegating all internal trucking requirements in line with Shop/Yard/Project needs
  • Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment
  • Prepare documents, such as bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials
  • Determine shipping method for materials and contact carrier representatives to issue instructions, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
  • Ensure all shipments conform to, or exceed, current related legislation, including environmental and safety legislation
  • Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes
  • Input and maintain purchasing related data in GroundWorks including part numbers, equipment numbers, pricing etc.
  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, accept or reject product according to established procedures, records shortages
  • Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to expedite, trace and/or rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and non-conformance to specifications
  • Develop, maintain and update an inventory control system to properly track yard and shop items
  • Periodically review inventory to determine stock items and levels of high moving inventory
  • Maintain stockroom to ensure safety, organization and efficiency
  • Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies
  • Enter all shop and field packing slips into current system on a daily/weekly basis
  • Use various equipment to perform tasks including computer terminal, bar coder, printer, photocopier, fax machine and calculator
  • Represent the shop on the Health & Safety Committee
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:Education and Experience
  • Secondary school Diploma
  • Minimum 1-3 years shipping/receiving or inventory control experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Data entry experience
  • Forklift certification.

Physical Demands
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • Able to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects (up to 70lbs)
  • Work in adverse weather conditions (snow, cold, heat)
