Job Description

EHS Partnerships Ltd. (EHSP) is seeking a qualified, mid-career safety advisor to provide onsite health and safety representation at an EHSP Client site in Northern Alberta. Working under the guidance of EHSP’s senior safety project managers, the successful candidate will work within our Client’s team to provide expert advice and support to their project teams during their scheduled plant shutdown. This contract position is from September 11 to 27, 2023 and is full-time, 12 hours per day, every day. Earn approximately $13,000 by working this project shutdown. Hotel accommodation, a mob and demob allowance, and LOA are provided.About UsEHSP is a full-service firm built around professionals and leaders in the field of environmental and occupational health and safety. We help clients keep their employees safe by developing and improving their health and safety management system through technical testing, monitoring, auditing, and training. Our client and specific industry experience include all commodities (oil and gas, base metal, and soft rock mining), real estate and facility management, manufacturing of all types, light and heavy construction, transport, education, and service sectors.Position SummaryThe successful candidate will provide health and safety consulting support to our Client during their scheduled plant shutdown. The role will include:

  • Coach and guide contractors with respect to health and safety programming to meet occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation and manage risk.
  • Assist with the interpretation of legislation and recommend compliance solutions.
  • Lead health and safety communication and initiatives, as required.
  • Assist with the communication and implementation of health and safety programs and processes related to the project work.
  • Attend safety meetings and support the delivery of key health and safety messages.
  • Create and deliver health and safety presentations.
  • Develop safety communications such as alerts, bulletins, and advisories.
  • Perform standby/on-call duties for health and safety support.
  • Participate in or facilitate hazard and risk assessments.
  • Support the continuing development and maintenance of emergency response and crisis management plans.
  • Participate in incident investigations as a health and safety subject matter expert.
  • Conduct job observations, behaviour observations, worksite inspections, and audits.
  • Conduct quality reviews of incident, near miss, observation, and hazard identification reports related to the projects.
  • Support contractor orientation and onboarding.
The work will include 100% field-based activities. The role will be based out of Northern Alberta. Hours of work will be 12 hours per day, every day, over the 17 days shutdown based on Client needs.A vehicle and a living out allowance will be provided.Required Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years’ experience industrial or commercial/industrial construction industries
  • Certification as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO)/Construction Safety Officer (CSO) required
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation preferred
  • Completion of a diploma or certificate in health and safety is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of legislation/industry best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license
