Job Description

Company ProfileMinto Metals, a producing underground copper mine has exciting opportunities to become part of our team and live by our Company values – Be Safe, Be Honest, Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Great!PositionWe are seeking Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) for a full-time position. This is a fly-in, fly-out position at the Minto mine site with travel to Whitehorse, YT and charter flight to site every Thursday travel day. Rotation is 2 week on/2 week off. Travel to/from Whitehorse is paid for by the Company.The Ideal CandidateYou will have:

  • 5-10 years related PCP experience;
  • Unrestricted certification as Primary Care Paramedic;
  • Experience working in a remote camp-based operation;
  • Audiometric Technician Certification is an asset;
  • Emergency planning training is an asset;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs;
  • Valid drivers license;
  • Physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency first aid services and arrange transport of critically injured or sick personnel;
  • Function as a full scope Primary Care Paramedic in remote camp based underground mining operation;
  • Support the site Emergency Response Plan;
  • Support the Emergency Response Team during training and in event of emergency;
  • Inspection and maintenance of safety and emergency response equipment and facilities;
  • Aid all line and staff departments on safety and emergency response matters;
  • Coordinate and administer safety training for site personnel;
  • Coordinate investigation of incidents and accidents and follow up on corrective actions;
  • Attend departmental pre-shift toolbox and monthly safety meetings;
  • Perform workplace inspections;
  • Participate in matters related to the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee;
  • Maintain statistical information and filing system of critical documents and records in both written and electronic format;
  • Maintain medical and safety related inventories;
  • Inspect and maintain site fire suppression systems;
  • Conduct audiometric testing and respiratory fit testing;
  • Ability to administer stitches, IV and antibiotic treatment as required;
  • Conduct safety orientation for new employees, visitors and contractors;
  • Participate in the wildlife control program;
  • Participate in the administration of the site drug screen program;
  • Remain abreast, promote and monitor applicable health and safety legislation including the Yukon Workers Compensation Health and Safety Board legislation and other pertinent mine specific legislation, standards and best practices;
  • Comply with company standards, as well as Yukon Territory and Canadian federal standards;
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time as required by the Company.
