All qualified persons, particularly Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, visible minorities, women, veterans, and others who share our values and contribute to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace are encouraged to apply.We are looking for a Recovery Specialist, you will work with the Senior Manager, Recovery, the Recovery Specialist will use their expertise in recovery to support operations across the country ensuring delivery of services in accordance with the CRCS Fundamental Principles, Mission, and approved budgets. They play a key role in coordinating CRC’s recovery work with external partners including governments, Indigenous communities and organizations, community organizations, and the private sector, as well as with internal services, geographies and supporting teams. The Recovery Specialist will work alongside external partners to guide and support community-driven recovery through activities such as recovery planning, navigation, and resource mobilization.As a Recovery Specialist you will:Recovery Operations & Programming

  • Supports new and emerging recovery operations and programs, including managing key operational components related to the delivery of Red Cross recovery programs and service lines.
  • Serves in a variety of recovery roles for new recovery operations to build a common understanding of impact and need, identify areas for engagement and/or advocacy, establish and foster relationships with other responding groups, and contribute to recovery planning and service delivery.
  • Collaborates with recovery service lines and other internal teams to ensure a holistic and comprehensive approach.
  • With Recovery Services leadership, collaborates with Emergency Management personnel to support the transition from relief to recovery focused work.
General Recovery Services
  • Contributes to the development of Recovery Services offerings and standards, and develops supportive frameworks, work plans, and other development tools.
  • Collaborates across Recovery Services, including with Granting, Case Management and Small Business teams, leveraging experience, practices and lessons learned.
  • Contributes to planning and reporting as required.
What we are looking for:
  • University degree in a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience of relevant work experience in the emergency management, humanitarian, or community development sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a recovery context.
  • Knowledge of a holistic approach to planning, preparedness, response and risk reduction.
  • Knowledge of community resiliency and the role of communities in the recovery processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, French is an asset.
  • Strong presentation, diplomacy and navigation skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and professionalism in handling issues and confidential information
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset
Working conditions:
  • The majority of the work is performed in an environment which is mostly clean and comfortable.
  • May be required to work extended hours during peak periods.
  • Must be available to travel to response/recovery operations as required.
  • Travel within Canada is required, travel internationally may be an option.
  • Able to work non-traditional hours and respond to after hour emergency/disaster related requests
  • Potential for responding in hardship conditions, as well as difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odors, smoke, humidity, vulnerable beneficiaries).
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is mandatory for this position and operation (the CRC will however adhere to its duty to accommodate those who are unable to be fully vaccinated for a reason related to a human right protected ground)
