Your Opportunity with Michels CanadaThe Transportation Compliance Coordinator is required to maintain transportation data input and analysis, as well as train and audit commercial drivers. This position will be responsible for updating and managing the Company Hours of Service in the ELD data base. The Transportation Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and enforcing rules and regulations of all federal and provincial transportation laws.We are looking for dedicated Transportation Compliance Coordinators for upcoming projects in Alberta and BC in 2022.Your Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
  • Perform weekly ELD, Fuel and DVIR audits to ensure 100% compliance.
  • Create and maintain employee files and perform periodic audits to ensuring all files have necessary documentation and perform audits to ensure all files are compliant with Michels Canada policies and all requirements of regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinate driver training and orientation programs for new drivers; coordinate driver training and periodic retraining of all drivers.
  • Schedule periodic compliance meetings with drivers and relevant employees.
  • Maintain, audit and update records relating to driver logs, trip inspections, maintenance records and other supporting documentation
  • Ensure all vehicle registrations including prorated equipment is current and up to date
  • Perform Driver Evaluations, driver pre-trip audits, Cargo Securement and CVSI spot checks
  • Other duties as assigned
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in transportation regulation and compliance or related experience in similar industries
  • Working knowledge of hours of service, pre-trip inspection, weights/dimensions, and cargo securement
  • Familiarity with International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA)
  • Well versed with the Traffic Safety Act and the Dangerous Goods Transportation and Handling Act, as well as the regulations made under these Acts
  • Experience in maintaining driver files and logbooks
  • Experience in providing commercial driver training
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Pipeline construction/administrative experience is an asset
  • Experience in maintaining driver files and logbooks is preferred. Knowledge of Big Road is an asset.
  • Experience in providing commercial driver training is preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload
