Job Description

Employment OpportunityPRINCIPAL – T’LISALAGI’LAKW SCHOOLWe are accepting applications for the full time position of Principal at T’lisalagi’lakw School. We are aFirst Nations operated Group Two Independent school with Grades K-7 full days and a morning JuniorKindergarten class. 2022-2023 enrollment is approximately 80 students for which we strive to increaseliteracy and numeracy along with a strong cultural component. The staff contingent includes teachers,teacher’s assistants and support staff.Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the School operates in accordance with the Independent Schools Act and ‘Namgis
Education Policies
  • Develop and implement an annual work plan that aligns with strategic goals and objectives
  • Direct, oversee and manage school staff to ensure a positive, safe and respectful work and
learning environment
  • Supervise the development and delivery of curricular and special programs
  • Develop, implement and report on the annual school budget as required
  • Temporary classroom teaching as may be required from time to time
  • Ensure that students’ needs are addressed to achieve success
  • Ensure that accurate and complete student records are maintained as prescribed by the
Ministry of Education and Indigenous Services Canada
  • Evaluate performance of school staff at least once annually and as required
  • Meet regularly with staff to foster a communication bases environment
  • Report to ‘Namgis Administration regularly and as required
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with the community through information sharing
and communicating regularly and as required
  • Other related duties as may be required
Job Qualifications:
  • M.Ed in Educational Administration or a related field
  • Member in good standing with the BC College of Teachers
  • 2 years’ related experience in a First Nations environment
  • Familiarity with FNESC is an asset
