Job Description

Subsidiary: Miller Paving LimitedLocation: Aurora, ONWhat Does a Lab Technician DoThe Corporate Technical Services group provides technical support, optimization, and innovation to the Miller Group of Companies involving hot mix asphalt, aggregates, laboratory testing, and cold processes. The Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting asphalt mix designs, cold mix designs and aggregate physicals within the laboratory.As a Lab Technician, You Will:

  • Comply with all safety policies, procedures and established safe practices
  • Compliance to ISO 17025:2017
  • Ensure an unbiased testing environment in compliance with the quality manual and other regulatory requirements
  • Conduct testing required (mix designs and quality control testing of field samples)
  • Perform maintenance and calibration of lab testing equipment
  • Identify, investigate and report non-conformance
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and meet other housekeeping needs as required
  • Other duties as assigned
What Youll Bring:
  • Post-secondary education in a technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong oral and written communication & organizational skills
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft office
  • Strong background of mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Must be self-motivated, possess a strong work ethic, and be results-oriented to get the job done right the first time
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and outside normal business hours
  • Work well in a team environment and able to work toward common goals
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively organize workload and manage time
  • Ability to work under pressure under tight timelines
  • Able to lift 50lb and perform manual labour
