Job TitleManager, Energy & SustainabilityJob Description SummaryJob DescriptionSustainability and Energy ManagerPOSITION SUMMARYThe Sustainability and Energy Manager is responsible for recommending best practices and implementing client’s sustainability and energy objectives. This person will work to ensure that client has the best information and recommendations with which to make sustainability and energy management decisions. This person will work closely with client’s sustainability and operational employees and the Cushman & Wakefield account team, including facilities managers, chief building engineers, building operating engineers, and suppliers to ensure a seamless delivery of sustainability services focused on energy efficiency, renewable energy, water efficiency and waste reduction to achieve the client’s sustainability objectives.JOB DESCRIPTIONWhat You Will Be DoingTrack, analyze and report on global sustainability and energy metrics, including electricity, gas, water, and solid waste reduction and diversion. Report internally and externally on greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability initiatives and metrics, including monthly and quarterly reports, CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project), Dow Jones Sustainability Index, and other reporting as needed (i.e., ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager). Familiarity with CDP reporting and the GHG Protocol a must.Recommend and facilitate development of strategies to reduce Client’s carbon emissions, working with management, engineers, and key vendors and organizations.Actively seek out opportunities to conserve energy and resources, with ability to communicate and develop project plan, ROI, and environmental benefits; facilitate and oversee energy and sustainability projects.Keep building managers and engineers informed of variances in building energy and water use and trends in energy and resource projects; identify possible rebates or partnership opportunities.Manage Client’s LEED for Existing Buildings program and annual recertification of facilities; work to achieve new certifications at facilities where possible.Develop, maintain and implement a rolling multi-year plan with annual reports for tracking progress towards the organization’s sustainability goals and recommend targets.Maintain and update sustainability and energy projects tracker, showing project description, rebates or incentives, if any, annual savings, simple payback, return on investment (ROI), and cumulative savings.Manage energy benchmarking and assessment using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager as well as internal software platforms; analyze energy consumption metrics to identify opportunities and create control plans to sustain energy savings.Collaborate with others to identify energy-related capital projects and build compelling business cases for review and approval. Business cases will require analysis of energy savings, payback periods and return on investment.Identify operational process changes that would result in reduced energy consumption.Provide clear and concise reporting of all energy and sustainability activities, metrics (cost savings, CO2, water, waste, etcetc.), and achievements on prescribed intervals or as requested by client. Communicate plans and progress to all levels of staff through presentations and meetings.Manage and coordinate the work of consultants to assist with sustainability and energy management activities and work projects.Skills and ExperienceBachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in sustainable building and operations, real estate, engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.A minimum of 5 years of related sustainability and LEED for Existing Buildings project management experience.LEED AP Operations and Maintenance (LEED AP O+M) accreditation is preferred or ability to achieve this designation including completing all the required continuing education requirements.Proficient user of LEED Online, ENERGY STAR Portfolio ManagerStrong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Teams and PowerPoint. Power BI skills are a plus.CompetenciesStrong personal commitment and interest in green building and operations.Ability to interact with client and client employees, senior management, staff, and suppliers as a professional always.Must possess excellent communication skills including the ability to convey complex technical information in a manner that non-technical individuals can comprehend.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Able to build strong relationships with internal and external partners to deliver effective services.Ability to multitask and prioritize for self and others.Detail oriented and able to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.Possess a positive attitude with a flexible and responsive approach to problem solving.A knack for innovation and problem solving, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented working style.Cushman & Wakefield provides equal employment opportunity.
