Job Description

The Municipality of the County of Victoria is hiring a full-time permanent position of Recreation and Physical Activity Coordinator based out of the Baddeck Courthouse.This position is responsible for the development and continuance of recreation programs and services for all residents of the Municipality including strategic planning, needs assessment, community liaison, program development, delivery and evaluation and promotion (60%).This position is also responsible for leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive physical activity strategy for the Municipality that will address policy, built, natural and social environments that support physical activity, leverage social marketing initiatives, and support the least active to be more active (40%).Term: Full-time; permanentHours: 35 hours/week (M-F, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm)Rate: $28.89 per hour as per the collective agreementBenefits: Comprehensive benefits package including:

Knowledge and abilities:
  • Knowledge of recreation programming and physical activity promotion and barriers
  • Understanding of the services and business areas provided by the Municipality
  • Proficiency in word processor, spreadsheet and presentation programs and contact management systems
  • Effective communication and relationship building skills
  • Analytic thinking and project management skills
  • Resourcefulness, independence, and capacity for teamwork
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Health Promotion, Community Studies or Recreation
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a related field
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 Driver’s License
