We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over ten years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex. The Complex refers to the processing facilities and infrastructure at the Meadowbank mine site combined with the mining and infrastructure at the Amaruq site.YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE: Reporting to the Exploration Geology Coordinator, the Exploration Geologist is part of the Geology department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. He will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

• Description of diamond drill core as requested by the Exploration Geology Coordinator;
• Ensure compliance with the QA/QC standards;
• Participate to day to day follow-up of Diamond drills;
• Data entry;
• Validate and implant potential drill setups in respect of field constraints and safety rules;
• Perform collar/downhole survey using various tools;
• Perform drill inspections and post-drilling inspections, communicate results & issues to the Orbit foreman, offer support to solve any drilling related issues;
• Supervision of the core shack technicians;
• Managing the shipment of split core sample megabags;
• Any other tasks requested by the Exploration Geology Coordinators.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology;
• 1-3 years of experience in Exploration;
• Qualification to register with NAPEG is required;
• Mining experience is an asset;
• Knowledge of DHLogger/Fusion softwares is an asset;
• Knowledge of Leapfrog Geo is an asset;
• Knowledge of Datamine and/or Deswik is an asset;
• Adaptability and autonomy competencies;
• Experience working in a multicultural environment;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
• Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
• Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.

Your Work Schedule

• Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
