We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over ten years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex. The Complex refers to the processing facilities and infrastructure at the Meadowbank mine site combined with the mining and infrastructure at the Amaruq site.YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Kitchen Supervisor is part of the Camp Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Coordinate the activities in all areas of the kitchen;
  • Responsible for Health and Safety in the workplace (work cards, inspections, safety meetings, procedures, etc.);
  • Plan and organize the weekly and special event menus;
  • Responsible for the weekly inventory and food orders;
  • Responsible for scheduling and payroll;
  • Coach and develop employees;
  • Any other duties required by the Management Team.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Have Professional Cuisine Diploma (CP, CEP, TGSA) or the equivalent;
  • Have ten (10) years or more of experience in an institutional or industrial environment, preferably in a Canadian environment with more than 1000 meals a day;
  • Have at least three (3) years in a leadership position;
  • Be able to maintain effectiveness when experiencing changes, new information, changing situations and easily considering new approaches (adaptability);
  • Be able to provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas needed (coaching);
  • Be able to develop and maintain effective relationships with others (interpersonal effectiveness);
  • Be able to establish a systematic course of action to ensure accomplishment of specific objectives (planning and organizing);
  • Be able to take responsibility for employees’ performance, by setting clear goals and expectations, ensuring feedback (performance management);
  • Have or be able to obtain a Certification Level 2 Supervisor as per the Mine Act;
  • Have or be able to obtain a valid First Aid Certificate;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.
Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
