We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over ten years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex. The Complex refers to the processing facilities and infrastructure at the Meadowbank mine site combined with the mining and infrastructure at the Amaruq site.

    YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:Reporting to the Project Evaluation Lead, the Mine Expansion Specialist will be part of the Project Evaluation Group and collaborate with other departments and consultants as the group seeks to extend the life-of-mine of the Meadowbank complex. The incumbent will act in a key departmental technical role to drive project deliverables, focused on both Open Pit and Underground projects. The incumbent will support business full potential projects, track project progress and milestones, and collaborate on project business cases. The incumbent will ensure that the department goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment. Key accountabilities are:
    • Support all aspects of mining studies to ensure the Meadowbank Complex achieves its full business potential; including assisting to develop project scopes, developing mine designs, mine plans, operating scenarios and reserve evaluations,
    • Work with intra/inter-departmental stakeholders and consultants to coordinate efforts to achieve the business full potential goals and deliverables
    • Share vision and strategy with stakeholders in accordance with the site and corporate objectives;
    • Provide support to exploration teams to ensure targets are appropriately scheduled & prioritized, and incorporated into the project schedule;
    • Work with stakeholders to integrate project deliverables into mid/short range planning activities including the annual budget and Life of Mine plans;
    • Review designs for regulatory compliance and compliance to company policies, procedures, and standards, and provide technical support to the permitting team;
    • Participate in business planning providing guidance on various LOM options to increase value and optimize use of resources;
    • Collaborate in the various budgeting and forecasting exercises and ensure adequate cost control of allocated budget;
    • Completion of various other projects assigned by the Project Evaluation Lead.
    WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
    • Professional Engineer in good standing eligible for registration in Nunavut;
    • A minimum of 3-5 years of mine engineering experience;
    • Be technically competent and have a good understanding of key mining business drivers;
    • Experience in both Open Pit & Underground Mining;
    • Project management and financial evaluation experience;
    • Versed with NI-43-101 guidelines for studies and resource/reserve reporting;
    • Demonstrate working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures and regulations;
    • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines on multiple initiatives;
    • Be a self-starter, generate ideas and assist in developing project scopes seeking to add value to the business
    • Resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills;
    • Be safety-conscious and demonstrate safe work practices;
    • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
    • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suites applications especially, MS Project, Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint and exposure to Leapfrog, Datamine and Deswik required;
    • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on a SPEEXX English language assessment.
    Your Work Schedule
    • Schedule: Hybrid 5/2 (40 hours per week) schedule with occasional trips to site, AEM offices, and consulting offices as required. Flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
