We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over ten years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex. The Complex refers to the processing facilities and infrastructure at the Meadowbank mine site combined with the mining and infrastructure at the Amaruq site.YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE: Reporting to the Geology General Supervisor, the Underground Geology Coordinator will perform his duties as a member of the Geology Department and collaborate with other departments of the division. The incumbent will play an important role in the management of the Underground Mine Geology team and perform good geological practices in terms of providing quality geological information to mine operations to maximize the mining of the resource. He also plays an important role in drill holes planning and follow-up, supervising mapping - core logging – mucks and chips sampling - 3d modelling/interpretation activities – managing ore stockpiles – performing reconciliation activities, as well as ensuring compliance with QA/QC. He will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Manage the underground mine geology production personnel and functions;
  • Assist Geology General Supervisor in short-term and long-term planning and follow-up;
  • Follow up on the production block model and monitor updates;
  • Follow up on the reconciliation of underground mined stopes;
  • Assist in the preparation of the daily, weekly and monthly reports;
  • Manage ore stockpiles and ore blending requirements;
  • Identify ore controls and ensure they are appropriately integrated in the estimation process;
  • Mentor the other members of the geology team;
  • Create yearly objectives with employees and conducts the personal evaluations at mid-year and at year-end; (Short Term incentive Bonus - Salary employees);
  • Review all design exercises & optimize ore recovery;
  • Direct the mine and office activities of the Underground Mine Geology team; define work schedules and priorities such that files, maps and records are accurate and up to date and in a timely manner;
  • Integrate the geology models into the mine plan;
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and yearly forecasts working closely with the Engineering/Mining departments;
  • Participate in the recruitment process with candidates for the Geology department when necessary;
  • Assist in the design and optimization of delineation drilling programs to ensure placement of mineralized contacts on timely manner;
  • Create, verify and implement procedures for geology department;
  • Lead daily toolbox meetings and ensure proper use of Supervision Formula;
  • Any other task requested by the Geology General Supervisor or Geology Superintendent.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering;
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in underground mining operations;
  • Experience in Open pit operations is an asset;
  • Experience of supervision of a group is also required;
  • FMTM or equivalent (common core) is required;
  • Leadership, Autonomy and Team Spirit;
  • Knowledge of 3d modelling software Deswik, Datamine (Studio RM) and core logging software Fusion (DHLogger) is an asset;
  • Qualifications to apply to NAPEG is required;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.
Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest (other schedule accepted also: 4/3, 7/7, 10/10); flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
