Job PostingHalifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for the casual position of Summer Youth Live Operations Assistant in Parks and Recreation. Please include a cover letter with you resumeDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Summer Youth Live Operations Assistant is a 16 week position that will work with full time staff and youth participants to help supervise and run Youth Lives business operations.If Successful in obtaining this position, you will be placed at one of our two work locations for the summer. Youll be given training and supervision to get started in each of our operations. You will supervise a small group of youth in the program to make sure we are providing excellent customer service and meeting deadlinesThe Position at the Youth Live Enviro Depot (947 Mitchell Street, Halifax) will be focused on supporting youth participants, full time staff and customers. You will help operate the Enviro-Depot, ensuring daily tasks such as customer service, and shipping requirements are met.The Position at the Youth Live Warehouse and Admin Office (1300 St. Margrets bay Road, Beachville) will focus on supporting the youth participants, the Green Cart Dismantling operation as well as operating the Commercial Enviro-Depot product sporting table.More information about the Youth Live Program can be found at www.halifax.ca/youthlive and on Facebook at www.facebook.com/hfxyouthlive

  • Provide front line customer service
  • Provide guidance and support to program youth participants
  • Takes daily notes, entering them into our database
  • Assists team with shipping of refundable products
  • Supervise youth in the dismantling of the Green Carts as part of our Green Cart Service
  • Assist in the sorting Commercial recycling product
  • Provide customer service to citizens dropping off End of Life Electronics
  • Attend required training session
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience
  • Experience Working or supervising youth (ages 16-24 considered an asset)
Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities
  • Must have good time management skills
  • Must have reliable access to transportation (or be bale to use public transportation)
  • A valid class 5 drivers license is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot and problem solve in a fast past environment
  • Ability to work with a constantly changing and inexperienced youth work group in a labor intensive environment
