Belle Plaine is in Saskatchewan, Canada 50 km west of Regina on highway #1.ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to the E amp;A Lead Engineer, the Instrumentation Technologist will be responsible for developing concepts, scopes and recommendations to meet project requirements, update and develop plant standards, and complete equipment inspections.

  • Specify, size and select measurement and control devices (control valves, transmitters, flow meters, process analyzers, etc.) for industrial process applications.
  • Provide budgetary as well as firm pricing on instrumentation systems and final control elements.
  • Completing and maintaining discipline specific activities (studies, reports and recommendations, technical bid evaluation, evaluations of alternatives, specifications, selection and purchase of instrumentation and/or control equipment, calculations such as Cv, FE, etc.).
  • Completing and maintaining Instrumentation related engineering deliverables (scope of work, installation details, datasheets, loop drawings, P amp;ID #39;s, material requisitions, turnover documentation).
  • Creation of design packages including all required documentation for new installation projects.
  • Act as the main technical contact for verification of all instrumentation drawings and documentation.
  • Contribute to the overall reliability of the site instrumentation systems.
  • Performing project coordination on small and medium sized projects, responsible for scope definition, design coordination, cost and schedule control, management of change/HAZOP and ensuring the integration of engineering, procurement, construction and operations.
  • Propose and develop instrumentation based projects for increased plant reliability and performance.
  • Assist field service technicians with troubleshooting existing equipment in the field.
  • Conduct activities in accordance with all site safety requirements.
Education, Experienceamp; SkillThe successful candidate will possess a diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology from an accredited institution accompanied with an Interprovincial Journeypersons Certificate in the field of Instrumentation Control Technician (Industrial Instrument Mechanic).
  • The successful candidate with have a minimum 5+ years of relevant industrial experience.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a high functioning team.
  • Leadership skills
  • Excellent oralamp; written technical communications.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and recommended practices in Canada.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Working knowledge in common computer programs and applications, such as SAP, Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCad.
  • General understanding of industrial automation control systems, such as DCS, SIS and PLC hardware and architecture.
