With eight decades of industry experience our customers, associates, and partners take pride in our name.THE ROLEReporting to the CFO, the National Credit Manager is responsible for sound fiscal management of the company’s customer receivables including the application of approved credit policies and procedures as well as timely cash collection and administration.RESPONSIBILITIESManage collections: • Identify, assessamp; timely report all customer credit risks that require remediation or escalation to Sales Directors and/ or the CFO• Assessment of risk to determine whether to pursue collection through 3rd party agency or commence legal action. • Design, develop and implement effective collection strategies to manage delinquent accounts when internal collection efforts exhausted. • Monitor collections performanceamp; drive continuous improvement to meet or exceed targets. • Co-ordinate information gatheringamp; prepare reports for CFO • Monthly forecast of all payments to be received by the company Customer Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with major external customers with objectives to: • Improve the customer experience • Ensure the growth of our business • Payments in compliance with established terms • Facilitate dispute resolutionControlsamp; Governance Implement and maintain effective accounts receivable internal controls including: • Oversee payment processing and account • Protectamp; secure cash receipts, cheques and credit card information • Maintain required segregation of duties • Ensure timely recording of deposits and accurate reconciliation • Compliance with established approval levels for posting credits • Verify supporting documentation for bad debt write off approval • Identify potential risks and recommend for year-end provisional • Establish criteria required to open a customer account • Co-ordinate prepare and supply information for audits • Manage contract costs related to credit reports, denouncing (title searches for Quebec)amp; corporate searches. • Reviewamp; report annual credit card costs • Research credit card processors and obtain rates for review • Modernize policies and procedures to support consistency in process and automation.Leadership • Lead, train, develop, motivate, coach the creditamp; collections team • Responsible for writing and reviewing staff performance reviews • Creating incentive plans with recommended targets • Review and recommend salary increases. • Evaluation of new tools and automation opportunities. • Participate in credit groups/associations. Develop Business Relationships • Secure sales group support and cooperation in minimizing credit risk while supporting sales growth targets. Develop payment terms. • Improve internal relationships by participating in cross functional team projects • Member of appropriate industry groups THE IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE The successful candidate will possess the following: • A university degree in Management, Accounting or a related field; CCP an asset.• 7+ years of experience in progressive creditamp; collections roles• Proven team management skills, including coaching, feedback, and proactively managing performance• Superior problem-solvingamp; analytical abilities• Excellent communication and collaboration skills and proven ability to effectively partner with various stakeholders across the business• Capable ERPamp; Microsoft Excel user • Basic knowledge of lawamp; Construction Lien Act an asset• Bilingualism an asset
