Job Description

We are currently expanding and looking to add a motivated individual to our team based in our Brampton office.Responsibilities:

  • Manage Canadian tax calculations for various entities.
  • Planning and managing safe income, and tax surpluses tracking for Canadian and foreign entities.
  • Analyze, recommend and prepare Canadian and foreign elections.
  • Conduct quarterly and annual review of foreign income.
  • Lead strategic initiatives, such as internal reorganizations, repatriations, holding structure and financing arrangements.
  • Establish and document audit-ready file to support tax planning (e.g., internal memos and other documentation); assist with government tax audits and responses to queries as required.
  • Support the preparation and filing of Canadian foreign affiliate tax reports (i.e. T1134s).
  • Manage innovative tax planning programs.
  • Review complex income tax returns Identify all tax risks.
  • Manage tax provision and tax compliance process.
  • Suggest innovating solutions for process improvement using best practices.
  • Manage and coordinate tax audits.
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree preferably in Business, Accounting or Finance with CPA designation.
  • Experience with accounting is must.
  • Masters in tax and / or CPA in-depth tax courses /CGA designation preferred and is an asset.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Canadian multi-national / international tax compliance and planning experience in a national accounting firm, and/or in the tax department of a multi-national Canadian corporation.
  • 3+ Years of experience filling T2 returns in Canada.
  • In-depth GST/HST course is an asset. Tax and/or hst audit experience is required.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience is required.
  • Strong transactional and international tax experience, the ability to manage internal and external tax professionals, and the ability to work cross functionally.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian income tax law and Canadian foreign affiliate rules.
  • Working knowledge of income tax laws of other foreign jurisdictions is a significant asset.
  • Experience with corporate internal reorganizations, repatriations, financing, and other tax planning related to a Canadian multinational company.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting and tax reporting.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
  • A strong team player who is detail oriented, analytical, and very organized.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.
  • Must have experience dealing with CRA, responding to queries, preparing draft responses, etc.
  • Must know about presenting concise data to CRA.
  • Must have experience with conducting internal tax audits to improve systems and controls.
