Job Description

Applications are to be received by: 4:30 p.m. on March 27, 2023Classification: Academic Residence AssistantEmployee Group: PSACWage: $799.97 per academic term, as per PSAC Collective AgreementDepartment: Residence Hall Programs OfficeStart Date: September 1, 2023Length of Appointment: September 1, 2023 to April 7, 2024Date Issued: March 17, 2023Hours of Work: Between 6-8 Hours per week, including evenings and weekendsNumber of Positions Available: 1Duties:

  • Welcoming and becoming acquainted with residents in all three residence halls
  • Being a liaison between Student Services, including Learning, Writing, and Math Skills professionals.
  • Host and organizing academic skills activities and events in residence.
  • Working with students wanting to establish study groups.
  • Keeping a log/statistics of individuals utilizing academic skills activities and events, noting students that
may need additional assistance from Student Services.– Other relevant duties as assigned
  • Work with minimal to no direct supervision
Qualifications/Experience:Applicants must satisfy a number of requirements that include the following:Skillset:1. Ability to communicate with individuals and with groups effectively2. Ability to plan, organize, and lead group events3. Basic computer skills and competency using the Brandon University computer network4. Effectively communicate knowledge of campus and community academic resourcesEducation:1. Must be a full time Brandon University student in good academic standing, with a minimum GPA of2.5 in the term prior to being selected.Experience:1. Minimum of 4 months of post-secondary studies2.
