The work location for this position is Brandon, Manitoba, and is considered a fully on-site role.The Opportunity:Our Equipment Inspectors are part of our Detailed Equipment Information (DEI) team. They perform accurate and thorough visual inspections (eg. wear points, damage, hour meter readings, etc) and functional testing (eg. basic operations) on heavy equipment.In this role you’ll:

  • Accurately gather and verify equipment inventory information (e.g. contract proofs, equipment additions, serial numbers, etc) related to the Detailed Equipment Information (DEI) Program.
  • Responsible for assessing equipment and composing photos for the DEI Program.
  • Verifiy all equipment descriptions based on the Equipment Standards Manual.
  • Identify and record all equipment components, accessories and asset details.
  • Perform visual inspection (e.g. wear points, damage, hour meter readings, etc) and functional testing (e.g. basic operations of the asset) on equipment related to the DEI Program.
  • Assist the Sales Team (e.g. Territory Managers) with equipment appraisals.
  • Responsible and accountable for quality assurance of equipment data input and associated information of inspected assets.
  • Promote a culture where the health and safety of our employees and customers is top priority for all.
  • Assist the Sales team with appraisals and write-ups in the field between peak periods.
  • Provide assistance as required to the DEI Team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Equipment Manager.
  • Actively support the RB Unreserved Commitment to Safety: to send everyone home, every day, the way they came to work, by taking personal responsibility for your safety and safety of your team, co-workers and customers.
Here’s what you bring:
  • You have at least 5 years experience in equipment management (inspections, inventory and appraisals) and/or inventory control management, preferably in the auction or heavy equipment business.
  • High school graduate with some post-secondary education is considered an asset, such as a Technical Diploma or Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate.
  • Intermediate proficiency level using current MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel).
  • Proficiency using technology such as computers and digital cameras.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment would be ideal but is not required. Forklift certification is an asset.
  • Proven ability to effectively interface with Sales and Operational teams, as well as customers. You must have a strong customer service orientation.
  • You must be process-oriented, hands-on and ready to roll up your sleeves to succeed in this role.
  • Excellent organizational skills, you’re the type that leaves no detail unattended.
  • You thrive on achieving results without ever sacrificing integrity.
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented and self directed.
  • Ability to think quickly and make decisions on your feet.
  • Excellent time management skills, the ability to multi-task multiple projects and initiatives effectively and prioritize work are essential.
  • Highly capable of meeting strict deadlines in a high-pressure, ever-changing environment. You must also have the ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. You thrive working as part of a team and pitch-in wherever needed.
  • You have a strong work ethic without sacrificing your sense of humor or your ability to have fun on the job.
This job will require you to:
  • Have a valid, clean driver’s license.
  • Climb on and off large equipment and trucks.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors year-round.
  • Work regular overtime, including weekend hours, at the auction sales. You can expect to work extra hours for two weeks prior to each sale, during each sale, and for one week after each sale.
  • Travel to other auction sites if necessary.
