Basic FunctionUnder general supervision, is responsible for all credit granting functions within the consumer loans, personal mortgage and small business and agricultural area (depending on market demand) including interviewing members, assessing credit worthiness and underwriting loans within limits and/or recommending or declining loans based on loan risk. Analyzes financial statements, operating cycles, profit levels, cash flow projections and other factors or variables that affect loan viability and risk. Promote, up sell and cross ell the full range of credit union products with emphasis on small business and agricultural lending products, credit card products, lines of credit and sundry services. Identify and act on leads for consumer and mortgage loans and determines loan viability and risk and refer member to appropriate credit union resource person. Actively participates in all branch campaigns and promotes loan growth within objectives determined in the business planning process. Maintains a high profile and image as the financial institution of choice in the branch trading area by establishing member and non-member relationships and business contracts. Conducts a systematic collection procedure and initiates and/or recommends appropriate action to ensure safety of funds and delinquency ratio.Responsibilities:Lending FunctionConsumer and Mortgage Loansq Interview loan and mortgage applicants, analyze financial information, assess credit and approve loans and mortgages within discretionary limits and/or make recommendations for approvals/declines to supervisor.q Determine conditions of loan, input information and print documents.q Verify search on collateral security, register appropriate documents as required.q For mortgage loans, initiate instruction letter and all security documents as applicable and forward information to credit solicitor for opinion.q Initiate action to advance funds or advance loans as required. Review loan file documentation, secure appropriate signatures and advance loan on completion of signing.q Conduct normal follow-up on delinquent accounts and maintain a systematic collection procedure for early identification of problem accounts and promptly initiate or recommend appropriate action to minimize risk.q Review the overdraft daily and instruct support staff to take action within credit union policy (ie., member calls, NSF, or follow up).q Complete and submit reports for external programs and internal account and balance to house accounts on a monthly basis which may include: government reports for subsidy programs, municipal property tax reports, credit card reports and/or analysis of sundry Central reports and GL information.Lending Administration Functionq Conduct annual reviews of lines of credit.q Conduct normal follow-up on delinquent accounts and maintain a systematic collection procedure for early identification of problem accounts and promptly initiate or recommend appropriate action to minimize risk.q Acquire and review monthly operational reports from member businesses (ie.accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial statements).q Daily review loan information input against computer reports.q May Review the overdraft daily and recommend appropriate action within credit union policy.q Audit loan files for appropriate registrations, proper execution of documents and verify that all conditions have been met. Sales & Service Functionsq Identify opportunities to promote, up sell, and cross sell the credit union credit products (ie., consumer loans, mortgages, lines of credit, credit cards, authorized overdraft) and deposit products and investment vehicles.q Exhibit a high commitment to member relationships by promoting the concept of relationship marketing. Develop an affiliation with members by knowing individual member and his/her business relationship with the credit union.q Enthusiastically take part in campaigns, specific marketing initiates and/or promotions for new products and services that promote sales and growth in key target areas.q Establish effective member/non-member relationships and business contact (ie., lawyers, realtors, accountants). Customize the business package to suit specific member requirements by matching deposit services, loan services, card services, employee and sundry services to business member needs.q Portray a good sense of teamwork and establish team relationships with other staff by displaying a willingness to assist others and contribute to team goals by offering ideas and suggestions in a positive fashion.q Interpret the branch operating procedures, lending policies and security requirements and ensure that guidelines are adhered to.q Other duties as necessary under direction of your branch manager/immediate supervisor. These duties include, but are not limited to loan clerking duties and other levels of lending, particularly where a branch does not have availability of these lender/clerk positions.Educational Requirements Minimum: Grade 12 diploma Preferred: Preference will be given to those with Post secondary education, Graduates of CUIC Management Studies Program and candidates with a proven track record in credit union/financial institution environment.We thank all applicants, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.Quick Apply
