Applications are to be received by: 4:30 p.m. on July 29, 2022Classification: Research Assistant IVJob Title: Research Assistant IVDepartment: Gender and Women’s Studies/EducationWage or Salary:$22.06 per hourHours of Work: 63 hoursStart Date: July 29, 2022Length of Appointment: December 31, 2022Date Issued: July 22, 2022Duties:The Re-Storying Autism project is a multimedia story making and narrative interviewing project that disrupts and re-stories deficit narratives of embodied difference through disability and feminist studies, intersectionality, decolonial and arts-based approaches. We are currently focused on writing up findings, and planning an international symposium to take place July 2023.Duties include documenting findings around the arts, access and knowledge mobilization; assisting in the production of scholarly publications, reports and presentations; assisting in preparing materials for submission to research funding agencies (SSHRC); maintaining communications and outreach to research partners; assisting in record keeping and administrative duties to support research; and other relevant duties assigned.Qualifications/Experience:– Senior undergraduate or graduate student at Brandon University; priority will be given to a student with a strong understanding of social justice education– Research experience working with Indigenous, disability, and/or other social justice oriented community organizations– Interpret research findings and perform editorial tasks– Organize and host seminars, focus groups, community meetings, special event– Strong communication skills (oral and written)– Organized and detail-oriented– Comfortable working independently and self-motivatedThis RA position funded by the Margaret Lawrence Endowment Fund and we will give preference to candidates who self-identify from a protected group.
