Job Description

Classification: Research Assistant IVEmployee group: PSACJob title: Safe Places for Aging & CareDepartment: Geography & EnvironmentWage: $22.23/hourHours of work: 10 hours per weekStart date: October 17, 2022Length of appointment: 4 monthsDate issued: September 26, 2022Application deadline: October 7, 2022Duties:The Research Assistant will work closely with Dr. Rachel Herron and an interdisciplinary team of researchers at Brandon University, Carleton University, Dalhousie University, University of Manitoba, and St. Francis Xavier University. They will be responsible for:– Conducting semi-structured telephone interviews with staff, older adults and family members;– Reviewing interview transcripts for accuracy and preparing interview summaries;

  • Contributing to data analysis
  • Conducting literature reviews
– Participating in weekly research team meetings with interdisciplinary and multi-jurisdictional team (in Nova Scotia and Manitoba)
  • Contributing to reports and presentations for regional knowledge user advisory committee as well as academic articles
– Other relevant duties as assigned.Qualifications/Experience:– Enrolled in graduate training in Sociology, Nursing, Gerontology/aging studies or a related field would be preferred.– Strong interpersonal and communication skills.– Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.– High regard for quality and attention to detail.– Strong research and writing skills required.– Training and experience with qualitative research methods.To Apply:For more information about the project see www.safeplacesproject.com or contact Dr. Rachel Herron (herronr@brandonu.ca).
