Systems Librarian – 1 Year AppointmentJohn E. Robbins LibraryBrandon University is a leader in providing high quality education in arts, sciences, education, music, and health studies. With an outstanding team of expert and committed staff, the Library contributes to the quality of programs offered by the University and to the University’s academic and community reputation.Brandon University is seeking a dedicated and collegial librarian with a broad systems knowledge base, who maintains, administers and supports core library systems, including ALMA, Primo, Relais, EZProxy, Islandora, Dataverse, Springshare products, and WordPress. This one-year, full-time position will be a part of the Library, Archives and IT Services unit and will provide support to the programs, students and faculty of Brandon University.Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, responsibilities for the position include:Administering the core library systemsMonitoring the market regarding implementation of new and emerging library applications and knowledge systems such as next generation library catalogues, aggregated discovery tools, instructional technology and digital archivesCoordinating library web development with library, communications and information technology personnelPerforming other duties related to library systems as needed to accomplish the goals of the library and the university, including digitization and preservation initiativesProvision of liaison services to the Faculty of ScienceMaintaining awareness of new and emerging librarianship trendsEngage in research, creative activities and scholarshipsService on Library and University committeesOther professional duties as may be assigned by the Chief Information Officer (or equivalent) through consultation with the incumbentThe successful candidate will have:Required QualificationsMLIS, MLS, or MISt degree or equivalentDemonstrated knowledge and experience in management of library systems and electronic resourcesThe ability to work independently and as part of the John E.
