Job Description

Position Title: Cook / Food Services WorkerReports to: Support Services ManagerJob Location: Brockville, OntarioSalary Range / Classification: $20.99 per hourJob Type: Two (2), full-time permanent positions, one (1) part-timeOrganizational BackgroundSherwood Park Manor Long Term Care Home is a full-service non-profit, non municipal Nursing Home licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Manor, as is commonly referred to, has a rich and interesting history and maintains a high profile in our local community. Our Vision is: “A choice to celebrate living”. Our Values are: Choice, Collaboration, Compassion, Professionalism, Respect and Safety.Position OverviewReporting to the Service Support Manager, the Cook / Food Services Worker prepares food to residents of the Manor.Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Read write and accurately follow written and verbal instructions they relate to food preparation, storage and serving protocols
  • Follow with accuracy the specific needs and requirements of each resident’s diet
Skills and Knowledge
  • Certified as a Cook, Apprentice, Cook 2 (assistant) mandatory or Food Service Worker Course and kitchen experience
  • Completion of high school (grade 12)
  • Completion of a Food Safety Awareness Program Certificate
  • Have working knowledge of therapeutic diets and portion control
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with the residents of a LTC home
  • Ability to work under stress
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team
  • Previous experience providing laundry and / or sanitation services an asset
  • Previous experience working in a long-term care home an asset
Working Conditions:
  • Stand and walk for long periods
  • Sit for short periods
  • Bend, stoop, and carry
  • Push/pull wheeled equipment
  • Safely transfer and lift (up to 20 kg.) in accordance with Sherwood Park Manor’s transfer and lift procedures Work in a busy environment with interruptions and multiple ongoing priorities.
  • Performing tasks during the summer months without climate control.
  • Use of cooking equipment and cleaning and maintenance of said equipment
  • Work day, evening, night shifts; weekends, holidays and for call-in shifts
  • Manor policies require all employees to properly wear surgical masks and N-95 when necessary
  • Obtain and pass a Vulnerable Sector Check, if one available must be less then 6 months old
  • Must have an up to date 2 –step TB test
