We host monthly appreciation events, and our internal learning and development team provides the resources for employees to engage in continuing education and training.Position Summary: The Database Administrator ensures the databases (MSSQL, MySQL) and underlying systems, are secure, perform efficiently and are highly available. They also provide second and third line technical support to local and remote staff and will work closing with other IT teams such as DEVOPS, Development Scrum Teams, and Infrastructure. Responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining the database(s). Making requested changes, updates and modifications to database structure and data.Ensuring database security, integrity, stability, and system availability. Maintaining database backup and recovery infrastructure. Responsibilities: • Manage all database instances across development, staging, and production environments, handling installation, configuration, and maintenance • Make suggestions regarding database design, tuning options, and other potential issues • Configure database monitoring utilities to avoid false alarms • Find the most effective solution for increasing performance, including purchasing hardware and making changes to the server configuration or index/query • Confirm that database server topology, configuration, and maintenance meet SLA goals when designed and executed • Monitor for deviation in baseline system performance, and advise on and execute improvements to slow running queries • SQL and Windows patching. Develop, Implement, and maintain appropriate patching policies and procedures • Triage database performance issues – use monitoring tools to identify bottlenecks and leverage knowledge of database performance concepts to resolve in concert with internal and external partners • Triage data issues – identify root source of problem data and implement measures to correct and prevent • Develop and execute data migration procedures for moving data between database platforms without service disruption • Ensure instrumentation of all data access interfaces and work with DevOps to ensure that all interfaces and databases can be monitored and alert under stress • Acts as Corporate Data Steward and ensures proper data governance and rigor to include accessibility and security compliance, and user authentication and authorization • Accessibility and security compliance • User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments • Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system • Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes Qualifications required: • 5+ years of experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a related field • MCSE/MCSA, Azure Database Administrator Associate certifications preferred • Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments • Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling • PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills • Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS • Experience developing and maintaining documentation • Extensive experience with database technologies (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL Oracle, MongoDB) • Strong SQL expertise: analytic functions, CTEs, transactions, complex queries • Proficiency in accessibility and security compliance, user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments • Storage and server hardware experience a plus • Develop data strategies that define how the data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as any applications using or processing the data • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards • Experience with one of the following toolsets: SQL Server Management Studio, Redgate SQL Toolbelt, SQLYog, AppDynamics.
