Operationally, the Supervisor’s role includes administering and coordinating staffing processes, assisting Principals and Managers with the hiring process and evaluating employee documentation in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The Supervisor oversees and implements the recruitment strategies for the HR Operations team including the occasional recruitment process and career fairs. This position will focus on process improvement and service delivery to our stakeholders. Supervision of staff within the HR Operations team is included in this role.QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience:University degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a combination of undergraduate and Human Resources post-secondary courses. 4-5 years of experience which includes providing direction to others. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.Must hold or be working towards Certified Human Resources Professional DesignationSKILLS REQUIRED:Knowledge of:Human resources and related policies, procedures, techniques, trends and developments.Procedure development, including related data and information analysis.Human Resource Information Systems in addition to employee data systems, training and recruitment systems.Demonstrated understanding of related labour relations legislation including, but not limited to Employments Standards, Ministry of Labour, Ontario Human Rights Code, as well as changes within the Ministry of Education concerning teaching and qualification requirements.People management.Skills:Communications occur on a daily basis with employees, customers/clients and internal corporate stakeholders, and on a weekly or monthly basis with vendors, contractors, stakeholders and professional advisors.The most significant contact is with internal contacts in order to provide HR services and information.A range of interpersonal skills are used to perform activities including coaching employees, collaborating as part of a team, communicating complex information such as collective agreement related legislation to non-experts, counselling employees, listening to a variety of contacts, influencing others in a course of action, resolving conflicts and presenting.BRIEF LIST OF DUTIES:Daily Support to Principals/Managers . This includes Collective Agreement (CA) interpretation, posting vacancies and review of postings to advise managers who to consider in accordance with the CA, review and approve Principal/Manager recommendation for hire. This includes administration of daily staffing and hiring.Union Responses. This includes collection of posting, internal applicant, successful candidate data. Providing staffing and employee data in accordance with the CA. Responding to daily CA issues such as benefits, compensation, and staffing related items. This could be in the form of CA interpretation differences, process inquiries, employee inquiries, etc. Providing data to Labour Specialist/Operations Manager for staffing related union issues.Response to Employee Inquiries . This could be in the form of Occasional list questions, pay questions, posting questions, Collective Agreement interpretation questions, attendance questions.Payroll Preparation – Collection of Employee information for new hires, changes in staffing, pay. This involves determining what information is required and communicating to the hiring manager, receiving documentation, calculation of appropriate salary rate, calculation of sick day allocation, and communicating this information to the HRA (Human Resources Assistant) for input into the HRIS.Recruitment: Strategic direction of recruitment, career fair coordination, occasional recruitment oversight.Posting vacancies, review closed postings, determine successful candidate, maintain electronic posting database for postings (why posted, who was successful, replacing), review/approve leaves of absence.Supervision and Guidance to Staff – coaching, reviewing and providing guidance, reviewing process improvements, hiring, vacation and absence approval, performance management.Other duties:Oversees Human Resources information on internal and public facing sites and coordinates the team to ensure accurate, timely and service orientated information is available.Oversees the development of forms and processes as needed based on changes in process or to improve effectiveness, communicating these changes to the system, and outlining a new process.All applicants will be considered, however, only those to be interviewed will be contacted.No late submissions will be considered.Quick Apply
