Job Description

Russell Hendrix is currently recruiting an experienced HR & H&S Coordinator to join on a 1-year term as a maternity leave replacement. Reporting to the VP of HR, your role will be to support Russell Hendrix’s recruitment, development, succession, and safety of the most valuable resources within our organization.The successful candidate can be located in Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, or Brockville, and will have a hybrid work arrangement.What Youll Do:Safety

  • Review, revise and/or update H&S policies and procedures and formulate new policies and procedures as required;
  • Review all Incident investigations, and report WCB claims (BC, AB, SK, MB, ON, QB, PEI, NS)
  • WCB – ensure all WCB accounts are in good standing, and provide clearance letters etc.
  • Provides regular coaching and feedback on all Safety matters.
  • Support branches in setting up joint H&S Committees and participates as required;
  • Ensure all required safety inspections are completed on an ongoing basis
  • Develop and administer H&S training programs; work with site leaders or managers where required
  • Respond to safety concerns brought forward in a timely manner
  • Lead by example in an effort to foster a culture of safety
  • Oversee overall management of safety related incidents and/or injuries
  • Alberta COR – update, revise, implement all functions of AB COR
  • Update safety information on multiple platforms such as Avetta.
  • Communicate regularly with senior management.
  • Maintain relationships with all levels of employment
  • Problem solve safety related issues.
  • Update & Schedule any required/legislative safety Training.
  • Work with Teams, to provided safe working environments in Warehouse, Construction, and Sales platforms.
  • Update JHA’s and formal hazard assessments.
  • Root Cause analysis.
  • Track statistics and trends
Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Support HR team members in recruitment and onboarding of new Team Members.
  • Participate in A to Z recruitment process.
  • Perform applicant interviews to seek out candidates who fit our core values and company culture.
  • Ensure appropriate employment contracts are in place and renewed as required.
  • Support the HR Team in the onboarding of New Hires (0-90 days).
  • Maintain employee records.
  • Maintain relationships with the university, college, and employment agencies.
Employee Development and Retention
  • Support the HR team in management of the employee appraisal and mentorship program
  • Establish skills training opportunities and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs
  • Support the HR team in the bi-annual employee engagement and satisfaction surveys and results
  • Drive the culture of the organization; plan appropriate events, meetings, rewards, etc.

Desired Skills and Competencies:
  • You have a safety designation such as NCSO or OHS .
  • You have 1 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • You have excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • You have experience in managing multiple initiatives/activities simultaneously
  • You are computer savvy, with experience in using Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Previous AB COR experience is an asset
  • HR designation is an asset
  • French/English bilingual is an asset, but not required.
  • Strong formal and informal leadership skills
  • You are an excellent communicator, both verbal and written
  • You are a problem solver, able to identify issues and implement solutions to overcome problems
  • You have sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • You have a proven ability to collaborate with team members across multiple departments
  • You are proactive – acting without guidance or specific direction and brings new ideas to the table
  • You are self-motivated and results oriented
  • Safety oriented and committed to upholding safety requirements
