Job Description

The John Howard Society of Kingston & District is recruiting a professional and motivated Justice Involved Housing Worker. The right candidate will join a highly motivated team with a track-record of very high achievement and an appetite for change and innovation.RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES

  • Provide information, counselling, and support to clients of the housing program
  • Provide emergency assistance to clients within the first few days or weeks of transition from charge/institution to the community
  • Meeting with clients in the community and surrounding area for support while in the housing crisis.
  • Wrap-around support for chronically homeless and hard-to-house
  • Complete standardized assessments to evaluate the client’s risk and need areas and develop and implement an intervention plan to address those areas of need most strongly associated with criminal activity.
  • Ensure client file notes are maintained in the client information management system
  • Maintain client master files by affixing assessment and intervention plan, statistical forms, consents, and any relevant internal information, including all housing program forms
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree or diploma in the social sciences field, combined with case management experience. Specific education, training or certification in community corrections is an asset
  • Previous experience case managing clients who have high/complex needs or have multiple barriers to reintegration
  • Knowledge of motivational, solution-focused and crisis intervention counselling techniques
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of risk management
