Instrumentationamp; Controls EngineerAs a diverse and rapidly growing organization, TWD is a leading organization in the oil and gas industry with expertise ranging from refinery, pipelines, terminalling and blending, renewables, food and beverage, power, and much more. TWD is currently seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to work out of our client in Sarnia, ON.Job SummaryThe Instrumentationamp; Controls Engineer is responsible for the technical execution of a variety of consulting engineering assignments with primary responsibilities in the field of electrical engineering and design.The role will include participating as a member of dynamic project teams with a wide range of types of tasks. The position will provide the opportunity to work in a number of industries in which TWD services including Chemical, Refining, Foodamp; Beverage and Pharmaceuticals.Job Duties

  • Responsible for the design and development of instrumentation and control systems. Work in compliance with recognized industry standards, safety standards, and various client specifications.
  • Review and check technical vendor submittals for installation requirements. Prepare instrumentation calculations for control valves, flow orifices, and relief valves as required.
  • Design specialized control systems / instrumentation (i.e. PLCs) and provide field support through construction and commissioning. Prepare Equipment Specifications. Aware of ongoing regulatory requirements and industry standard best practices.
  • Able to work with TWD and Client design specifications. Communicate effectively with internal project team members and external clients. Provide cross functional technical support in areas of instrumentation engineering as may be required.
  • Familiarity with various industrial design codes and standards.
  • Provide instrument / electrical specifications, drawings, scopes of work, construction work packages, including the following:
    • Instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, flow, analytical)
    • Instrument and power conduit schedules
    • Instrument and power cable layouts
    • Electric heat tracing system design
    • MCC and Panel layouts
    • Connection drawings
    • Electrical Installation details
    • Critical Equipment Specifications (i.e. MCC, Switchgear, Sub-Stations, Transformers)
    • Power Distribution
    • Single line diagrams
    • Area classification
    • Conduit and Cable Sizing
    • Wiring schematics
Business Development Support
  • Support the Business Development Team (BD) to effectively manage and expand existing customer relationships.
  • Support the BD team to grow and develop a new customer base.
  • Support BD activities including but not limited to proposal preparation, attendance at conferences, seminars, etc. for the purpose of networking and promoting the company.
Requirements – Job Specific
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 15+ years of engineering experience and supervisory duties.
  • Able to conduct detailed calculations to ensure that designs meet engineered standards and applicable codes
  • Experience with multiple phases of projects including preliminary and detailed design, tendering, construction supervision and commissioning is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator #39;s License to facilitate independent travel to project sites and other office locations
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a range of personalities to establish effective working relationships with the required stakeholders
