  • As the senior Building Envelope Engineer, you will primarily focus on building envelope design, energy modeling, and analysis, working out of our Burnaby office.
  • This role may involve aspects of project delivery management, production of structural documents, and construction administration.
  • You will also ensure all work is carried out in full support of our Company’s values and culture.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and oversee building envelope restoration projects from investigation through substantial completion.
  • Prepare engineering drawings and contract documents in collaboration with our technologists and other members of the engineering team.
  • Review architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
  • Review investigative reports.
  • Undertake some structural designs related to building envelope remediation.
  • Conduct and lead field reviews and engineering (Envelope/Structural) investigations.
  • Oversee energy modeling and energy audits for new construction and existing buildings.
  • Draft project-related correspondence as needed.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide status updates.
  • Set a high technical standard and mentor junior staff to reach their fullest potential, delivering high-quality work.
Successful Qualities:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural/Building Science or equivalent training.
  • An active P.Eng. designation from EGBC with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Building Envelope Consulting.
  • Experience in preparation of tender packages, construction contract administration, and building envelope condition assessments.
  • Knowledgeable in BC Building Codes, Parts 4, 5, and 9, in particular.
  • Experience, knowledge, and interest in Passive House building envelope design strategies are assets.
  • Prior experience with existing multifamily residential buildings is an asset
  • Experience/Coursework in Energy modeling and audits.
  • Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel and structural analysis software (SAP2000, RAM, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients.
  • Must be willing to work at heights, including climbing ladders and working on a swing stage.
