Join us.AECOM #39;s Water group in BC is growing! We are searching for an Electrical Engineer for a full-time position supporting our municipal water infrastructure team. This position can be base in either of our Burnaby, Kelowna or Victoria, BC offices.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Independently work to provide EI amp;C engineering tasks for municipal projects to clients based in Western Canada especially for Metro Vancouver
  • Design and develop contract specifications, studies and reports for electrical power and distribution systems, grounding, lighting, cable tray system, cable feeder sizing, soft-start and variable speed drives, standby power, and low voltage system (fire alarm, telecommunications and security systems) applications.
  • Design and specify process instrumentation and control sytems for various processes including water/wastewater treatment and industrial applications.
  • Provide electrical discipline leadership on small to mid-scale water and wastewater projects under minimal supervision to ensure that engineering and design deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards and sounds engineering practices.
  • Take direction from Projects #39; Managers, Leads and Process Engineers, and work closely with other discipline Designers and Engineers as a key team player for coordination and liaison of project deliverables under minimal supervision.
  • Strictly adhere to AECOM #39;s project design and specification standards, including capability of learning and adopting clients #39; standard and requirements as required.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical aspect on project documentation produced in accordance with AECOM QA/QC procedures and with the clients #39; standards and expectation.
QualificationsMinimum requirements:
  • Bachelor #39;s Degree in Electrical Engineering, from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution + 6years of engineering design experience in a multi-disciplinary electrical, instrumentationamp; control environment;
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Canada (EGBC preferred) or eligibility to obtain EGBC registration within 6months;
  • Applicable experience in electrical related design and commissioning, preferably encompassing electrical distribution systems and DCS or PLC control systems, variable speed drives, and instrumentationamp; control systems for municipal or light industrial environment;
  • Experience with performing electrical power system studies and calculations.
  • Proven track record in design and production of tender documents such as P amp;IDs, single line diagrams, control and communication system diagrams, electrical and instrument location drawings, loopamp; schematic wiring diagrams; developing equipment load schedules, cableamp; tray calculations, instrumentation list and specifications sheets, standard details; contract specifications, electrical studies and reports;
  • Familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code, NFPA 820 (National Fire Protection Association, Canadian Building Code), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and experience in buildings (fire alarm and communication) systems;
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience related to water/wastewater (ie treatment plants) ideally with municipal projects but will consider also industrial
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD and/or other design tools (AutoCAD P amp;IDs/Electrical, REVIT MEP) will be a desirable asset.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; proven interpersonal skills, self-motivated, results oriented, ability to work independently and be flexible to perform work under tight schedules in a fast paced integrated multi-disciplinary team environment;

  • Offered rate of compensation in Burnaby, BC will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $102,000 - $140,000.
