YFPS also provides services to young persons found unfit to stand trial and those youth found not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder (NCRMD), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.Services are provided through outpatient clinics and contracted service providers located throughout the province. An inpatient assessment unit (IAU), located in Burnaby provides mental health services to Burnaby Youth Custody Services (BYCS). Regional outpatient clinics located in Burnaby, Langley, Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Prince George, Kamloops and Kelowna service the five macro regions of the North, the Interior, Vancouver Island, South Burnaby and the Lower Mainland.Assessment and treatment services for youth may include specialized treatment services for: youth who may have committed violent or sexual offences; youth who have offended and are experiencing mental health, behavioural, drug and/or alcohol addictions problems; and youth in custody facilities who are in need of mental health services.Under the direction of a Program Manager, and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Nurse 5, Shift Supervisor directs and supervises the comprehensive delivery of nursing services by: supervising Health Care Workers, Registered Psychiatric and Registered Nurses in carrying out assessment and acute stabilization services for severely thought disordered or conduct disordered adolescents admitted to the Secure Custody environment at the Inpatient Assessment Unit, Burnaby, BC.Job Requirements:

  • Registered or eligible for registration with the BC College of Nursesamp; Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years related nursing experience. (E.g., mental health nurse experience, psychiatric nurse experience, etc.)
Preference may be given for:
  • Recent, satisfactory supervisory experience with related formal supervisory training.
