About the OrganisationThe Supervising Scientist Branch is a specialist scientific agency within the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (Commonwealth). The Branch is responsible for protecting the environment of the Alligator Rivers Region, including Kakadu National Park, from the effects of uranium mining. In this context, the Branch conducts environmental research and monitoring around operating and rehabilitated uranium mines. One aspect of the Branch’s research is strongly focused on radioactivity in the environment to ensure the radiological protection of people and ecosystems.About the roleYou will conduct and manage environmental research and monitoring projects related to the assessment of radiological impacts on people and the environment from uranium mining operations and site rehabilitation in the Alligator Rivers Region of the Northern Territory.
