Job Description

Job descriptionMitchell Eye Centre currently has career openings for experienced professionals based in Calgary. If you are interested in joining a patient-focused, state-of-the-art Ophthalmic practice and working with an exceptional team, please get in touch with us.Position Summary:Performs basic patient care, ophthalmic testing procedures and initial patient examinations as directed by physician or supervisor.Position available:

  • Ophthalmic Technician
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Accurately performing patient screening/testing which includes:
  • Patient History
  • Visual Acuity
  • Pupil Assessment
  • Intraocular Pressure
  • Isihara Testing
  • Instilling drops
  • Dry eye testing
  • Accurately performing diagnostic testing
  • Visual Field
  • OCT
  • Corneal Topography
  • Educating the patient on all preliminary testing
*
  • Efficiently and accurately documenting all patient information in electronic medical records
  • Maintaining, calibrating and cleaning all equipment used throughout the day
  • Returning and triaging phone calls to patients and other healthcare professionals in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt well to a team environment
  • Positive and friendly attitude
  • Works well under stress in high volume settings
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • 2+ years of previous experience as an ophthalmic assistant/technician
  • Certified as COA/ COT
Skills:
  • Excellent patient communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, previous EMR experience is an asset
  • Ability to quickly adapt to evolving technology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivation to deliver high quality results
  • Professional Demeanor and Appearance
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to demonstrate consistent initiative and a team attitude
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
