About MRUMount Royal University is located within the traditional homelands of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot, including the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai), the Tsuut’ina, and the Îyârhe Nakoda Nations of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Wesley. Currently, more than 15,000 credit students choose from 13 bachelor degrees and 38 majors.About the Office of Student SuccessMount Royal University’s Office of Student Success works closely with staff and faculty to better understand our students and learn what we can do to ensure their success. Our goal is to help students learn about and navigate campus resources. As such, we are home to Academic Advising Services, New Student Orientation, the Early Support Program, and Student Leadership. Specifically, Academic Advising Services helps students understand program requirements and create an academic plan that aligns with students goals. Advisors also help students understand MRU policies and procedures as well as provide information on how to access campus services.About the RoleAdvising is a developmental process assisting students in the clarification and development of educational and career goals and the development and implementation of an educational plan to realize these goals. The Academic Advising Assistants are the first point of contact for students in person and via technology (telephone, email and web-based). The AAA must be knowledgeable about all aspects of University activities such as policies, procedures, academic programs, and critical dates and deadlines.The incumbent must combine knowledge of the processes within Academic Advising Services with an analysis of student needs (both short and long term) and determine how best to provide services. The Administrative Assistants must consistently juggle in-person clients and telephone calls with other administrative duties including, but not limited to office filing, data entry, and monitoring administrative support to the staff within Academic Advising Services. The Administrative Assistants are key members of the Advising team and play an important role in student retention through efficient and appropriate referrals and reducing the distance between the students needs and solutions.This position is a full-time role working 35 hours per week.This position is a limited-term role, ending September 30, 2023.ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Support (70%):
