  • Account Receivable
    • Ensure tenant allowances and write offs are completed monthly
    • Provide assistance with procedures & coding for unusual A/R adjustments
    • Review of all non-rental related cheque postings
  • Accounts Payable
    • Schedule and co-ordinate bi-monthly and monthly cheque runs
    • Review and approve all HST/GST reconciliations/remittances and all government returns prepared by Property Accountants
    • Ensure that the HST/GST regulations are being followed
    • Monitor and ensure that utility, realty tax bills and any date sensitive invoices are processed and paid on time
    • Review all GL coding for capital, operational and miscellaneous payables
  • Banking
    • Monitoring of all cash balances – assist or invest (when applicable) surplus cash or disburse to owners
    • Review all cash calls and prepare the funding request/distribution to the owners
    • Deal directly with banks on all banking related issues
    • Ensure bank reconciliations are reviewed and updated daily
    • Monitor any fraudulent banking activities by enforcing and monitoring the internal procedures and report any issues immediately to the Controller and Vice President, Finance
  • General Accounting
    • Set and ensure that all reporting deadlines are met for all companies
    • Ensure that the Property Accountants understand and follow GAAP or IFRS accounting principles
    • Final review of all monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
    • Assist with Pro-forma statements if required
    • Complete Owner’s distribution
    • Ensure completeness and accuracy of tenant’s additional rents (Ie. lease types)
    • Review, approve and finalize the tenant’s year end reconciliation
    • Liaison with owner accountant(s) and auditors on all issues
    • Balance sheet account review and approval of month end working papers
  • Budgets
    • Review tenant additional rent calculation (ie. lease types) in the annual budget model
    • Review or complete the amortization schedules in the annual budget
    • Review budgets to ensure that accounting guidelines are being followed
    • Assist with the Pro-forma statements when and if required
    • Participate in team reviews of the annual budget
  • Staff Management
    • Supervise and train Property Accountants and Clerical Staff
    • Assist in hiring of new accounting staff
    • Assist in annual performance review
