Job Description

Title: Manager, Accounts PayableReporting: ControllerHybrid Office/Remote: 3 days in office – 2 days remote (flexibility to alter schedule)Location: Calgary, AlbertaPosition: FulltimeManger, Accounts PayableVCA Canada Animal Hospitals is currently welcoming an Accounts Payable Manager to the VCA Canada support office located in Calgary. This position will oversee the accounts payable service that supports 145 veterinary hospitals across 6 provinces in Canada. As an integral part of the accounts payable team, the successful candidate will foster and support delivery of all aspects of the accounts payable functionOur ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and understand the complexities within an accounts payable department. You will lead an established team of accounting associates through collaboration, conversations, and regular meetings to reach departmental and individual goals. Through collaboration you will ensure work processes are functioning for your team and clients while observing for efficiency opportunities. Additionally, you will share an optimistic view and continue to foster and encourage a goal-oriented culture that prides itself on service delivery.Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the accounts payable team and oversee the daily management of the accounts payable processes associated with the payment of the daily payment of invoices
  • Provide team guidance and direction that is focused on everyone working together toward a common goal
  • Coordinate Accounts Payable period end processes to ensure all requirements are fulfilled based on communication with other departments
  • Process optimization: track and monitor efficiency and effectiveness of the payables process, develop preventative measures to address root causes of problems, monitor risks and inefficiencies
  • Process health: follow up and review results, proactively identify new risks through regular process and system walk-through
  • Support Operations on enquiries and escalations within a defined timeframe (145 hospitals)
  • Work with external vendors and internal departments to analyze and resolve invoicing issues
  • Lead and define projects that require process improvement
  • Assist in year-end audit information requests
  • Assist with ad hoc duties and initiatives as requested
Qualifications
  • 4 years minimum accounts payable experience including knowledge of basic accounting principles; balance sheet accounts, invoices, and vendor relations
  • Team management; 4 years minimum experience leading and monitoring a team
  • Post-Secondary education in accounting preferred
  • Experience in customer service
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Ensure accuracy on processes and information provided to vendors/clients/operations
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Bilingual English and French would be considered an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Excel at an intermediate to advanced level
