Somerville and Aecon Utilities, a division of Aecon Construction Group. SA Energy Group provides mainline pipeline construction services to the Canadian Oil and Gas industry. We have a strong project backlog and our successes are well documented having constructed over 1000 km of large diameter pipeline over the past 7 years.Purpose of the PositionUnder the supervision of the Project Controls Manager, the Project Controls Admin will be responsible for the tracking of Labour, Equipment, Materials and Subcontractor tickets. Their job is to ensure the integrity of the information being used by Senior Project Controls to produce project performance reports.Status of the PositionThis is a temporary full-time position. The work schedule will be 6 days on (Monday – Saturday) and 1 day off (Sunday), 12 hours per day (with schedule flexibility for the right candidate). The employment term shall be dependent on the duration of the current project and future project workload.LocationThe position will be based out of SA Energy Group’s Corporate Office in Quarry Park, Calgary, AB.Key Responsibilities

  • Provides cost control and financial control support for the project team.
  • Responsible for daily LEMS tracking of all field costs and revenue.
  • Change Management tracking and pricing.
  • Subcontractor/Vendor cost tracking and payment verification.
  • Ensures contract adherence to terms and conditions for prime and subcontractor contracts.
  • Ensures timely and accurate preparation of weekly project statistics.
  • Reviews cost allocations as per baseline budget.
  • Performs weekly audits of field cost tracking against accounting system.
  • Participates in the continuous improvement and implementation of work processes regarding cost control.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Construction, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or Business backgrounds will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume construction environment.
  • Knowledge of engineering controls, cost control, project accounting, document management and project reporting considered an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Desire to take ownership of tasks assigned and willingness to learn.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision and in a team environment.
  • Must possess a Valid Driver’s license.
Physical Demands Analysis
  • Ability to work 6 days on, 1 day off schedule.

  • Extended work hours as required.
