Job Description

Job DescriptionAltaGas Scheduler, Logistics (Oil Supply & Marketing)This position is part of the AltaGas team. Reporting to the SVP Oil Supply & Marketing, this role provides support to the Oil Supply & Marketing team for managing product movements of crude oil and condensates. This person will require strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills. Your overall responsibility will be for day-to-day scheduling of crude oil and condensates on rail and truck throughout North AmericaYou Will:

  • Manage crude and condensate scheduling activities for the crude group (Pipeline, Tank, Rail, Truck)
  • Develop and maintain relationships both within Alberta and across North America
  • Ensure supply is delivered to multiple asset bases in a ratable fashion to ensure customers demand needs are met on a month to month basis (primary areas of focus are Edmonton, Sarnia, Capser, Guernsey, Wood River, Cushing and the Gulf Coast)
  • Support commercial organization to create synergies and business development opportunities around our asset base
  • Support the management of exposure on a month to month basis, and create value through optimizing tank/pipeline positions given contango or backwardation
  • Identify spot and term opportunities and assist various commercial representatives to capture arbitrage opportunities on a month to month basis
  • Provide support to downstream pipeline nomination business with various counterparties that allow for spot opportunities when pipeline lottery space is awarded
  • Have a broad understanding of global market factors on a day to day basis that might influence the price of WTI and differentials
  • Continuous growth and understanding of the north American pipeline network and transport rates to and from each hub
  • Develop and maintain commercial relationships with several downstream traders to facilitate buy and sell side business
  • Trade physical volumes on screen/off screen to optimize our assets around North America
  • Have a developing understating of the crude business which allows coverage across all business units when needed
What Have:
  • Relevant university degree (Business or Engineering)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a related role with focus on truck and rail movements in North America
  • Previous experience leasing rail cars is an asset
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements impacting rail industry would be an asset
  • Experience in rail car maintenance an asset
  • Previous experience working with Class 1 railroads
