Millican-Ogden is an inner city community located in the southeast area of Calgary (2110 69 Ave SE)------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Job DescriptionJob Title: Arena Facilities SupervisorFacility Supervisor (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer)Reporting to: General ManagerPurpose: You will be responsible for the completion of daily tasks designed to ensure and maintain a safe and welcoming environment at Jack Setter Arena and Millican Ogden Community Association.Responsibilities Jack Setter Arena:

• Delegate daily maintenance, repairs, and improvements of the Jack Setter Arena
• Regular inspections of the Jack Setter Arena and advise as to preventative maintenance measures
• Delegate deficiencies and inspection completion
• Sufficient knowledge on chemically treated water
• Operate and maintenance an ice resurfacing machine, specifically an Olympia, oversee maintenance and staff training
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, oversee maintenance and staff training on equipment
• Track staff training
• Marketing of available ice and slab times
• Attend meetings and share any arena updates and safety protocols
• Snow removal and lawn maintenance, as per scheduled
• Perform janitorial tasks, as per scheduled
• Offer excellent customer service to all patrons
• Other duties as assigned by the General Manager

Millican Ogden Community Association:

• Respond to renters concerns during/after their events and bookings
• Occasional inspections of the community centre and advice as to preventative maintenance measures
• Identify and record deficiencies
• Event set up and tear down
• Assist with event support during the annual community clean up and Stampede Breakfast
• Other duties as assigned by the General Manager

Other Duties:

• Monthly report to the Board of Directors
• Assist with the staff recruitment, interviewing and orientation
• Schedule seasons start, med season, and repair work
• Assist in the preparation of annual staff evaluations
• Conduct safety meetings
• Communicate any policy changes

High Hazards of the position:

• Working in a facility with an ammonia plant
• Working with heavy machinery and sharp objects
• Working with the public
• Working alone

Responsibilities of the Facility Supervisor: Weekly-Monthly

• Track plant readings in spread sheet
• Filing daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning
• Filing ice measurements
• Tracking program attendance
• Monthly petty cash reports
• Create weekly display schedule
• Order supplies for arena
• Contact approved vendors for arena / equipment repairs
• Set up in hall for all events
• Clean up hall post events
• Manage staff schedule
• Follow up on all calls to the arena
• Create and manage Deficiency’s
• Complete and manage monthly building inspections
• Create and manage safe work procedures
• Email Arena user groups regarding issues

QualificationsKnowledge and understanding:

• Awareness of safety policies and procedures
• Understanding and willingness to abide by all the organization policies and procedures including operating, safety, and human resources
• Understanding and ability to recognize hazards/problems as they arise and report them to the General Manager

Skills and experience:

• Arena Operator Level 2 mandatory
• Valid First Aid/CPR/ AED certificate
• WHMIS Certificate
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft office)
• Experience working in a recreation facility; arena an asset
• Experience with an ice resurfacing machine, specifically an Olympia
• Experience completing basic repairs
• Police Record Clearance must be obtained
• Child Welfare Check must be obtained
• Experience hiring, orientations, training, supervising staff

Additional Information

• Monday to Friday (Varied daily start and end times)
• Occasional night or week-end shift to complete training, observations, and evaluations
• Benefits
• 50,000 to 55,000 annually depending on experience
• Anticipated start time: ASAP
