At Lafarge Canada Inc., safety comes first, collaboration matters and diversity is celebrated with people who share our desire to continually make our materials better.Do you have the drive, the skills, and the passion to join usOverview:Assist in the preparation of asphalt binder blends, mixture performance testing and research and development initiatives of the WCAN PAVE Regional Performance Group including all relevant asphalt binder and performance testing protocolsResponsibilities:Assist with, the development of new product research and development initiatives.Carries out ongoing laboratory testing of asphalt binders as per the SHRP protocol M320 and M322 specificationsResponsible for the testing and evaluation of asphalt binder rheology and mixture performance properties.Carries out regular updates to the Quality Management System Manuals, test databases and spreadsheet and provides report summaries or analyses as needed.Be a responsible advocate for on-the job safety and the environment.Participate in technician and/or inter-laboratory materials testing and equipment correlation and certification programs as required to maintain accurate and consistent methods and test procedures or corporately mandated certification programs.Dimensions:The position reports directly to the Laboratory Manager, and indirectly, to the Unit Business Managers, Asphalt Paving/Construction Superintendents and the Quality Control Managers of the WCAN PAVE Performance Group.Specific Accountabilities:Monitor and refine WCAN Regional Asphalt Laboratory Quality Management System.Assist in maximizing efficiencies through optimized raw materials and material sourcing.Quality Control Technician team leadership, development and training.Assist with the development, refinement and testing of New Products.Maintain a workplace that is safe, enjoyable and considerate to the environment.Qualifications:Post-secondary civil or chemical engineering technology education (2-year diploma/certificate program) preferred or part-time studies courses in civil or chemical engineering technologyA minimum of two years’ previous experience in (field and lab) construction quality control testing, including experience in asphalt technology.Current and valid Alberta Driver’s License.Superior written and oral communications skills in English; computer literacy with a popular word-processing and spreadsheet software programs (i.e., MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint) in a Windows environment.As part of our dedicated focus on the health and safety of all employees, a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, may be required.LafargeHolcim:As we are reinventing the way the world builds, we need world-class talent to join our Lafarge Canada team: people who are passionate, driven by curiosity and keen to grow, learn, develop and thrive in our high-performance culture.Whatever you do, you will make a difference here.
