The School of Business hosts four departments: General Management & Human Resources, Accounting & Finance, International Business & Supply Chain Management, and Entrepreneurship, Marketing & Social Innovation. The School of Communication Studies consists of three departments: Public Relations, Information Design, and Broadcast Media Studies and Journalism.The Bissett School of Business is an accredited member of EFMD, a global, non-profit, membership-driven organization dedicated to management development.About the Department of Accounting and FinanceThe Department of Accounting and Finance offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees in both Accounting and Finance. The BBA - Finance major offers two concentration choices, including Financial Analysis and Financial Services, to students. Students completing the Financial Analysis concentration are well prepared to pursue a Chartered Financial Analyst ® (CFA) designation upon graduation. After completion of all courses in the Financial Services concentration, students are prepared to write the examinations leading to the Certified Financial Planner ® (CFP) designation.About the RoleThe Department of Accounting and Finance in the Bissett School of Business at MRU invites applications for a tenure-track position in Finance at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will commence on July 1, 2023. This position will be hired into the Teaching-Scholarship-Service (TSS) work pattern. The TSS work pattern has a focus on teaching (the equivalent of six classes per academic year), conducting scholarly research, and providing academic service. The selected candidate will teach introductory and advanced level courses such as, but not limited to, investments, portfolio management, financial planning, international finance, financial management or financial risk management.The successful candidate will become an integral member of our Finance team, and can expect to meaningfully contribute to departmental priorities and activities. At MRU, as our industry connections are an important and integral part of our programs, the selected candidate will be encouraged to actively liaise with industry partners or professional associations on behalf of the Department and the Bissett School of Business.QualificationsA Ph.D. in Finance or close to completion of PhD in Finance (ABD), from an accredited post-secondary institution (AACSB, EQUIS, EFMD or equivalent) is required.Additionally, the following candidate attributes are desirable:

• Current, active research program in Finance

• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at an accredited post-secondary institution

• Professional industry experience

• A professional finance designation (CFA or CFP)

• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills

• A willingness to mentor and coach students in the student investment fund, student competitions, finance student club, directed readings, Honours thesis or other similar student facing activities.
