The School of Business hosts four departments: General Management & Human Resources, Accounting & Finance, International Business & Supply Chain Management, and Entrepreneurship, Marketing & Social Innovation. The School of Communication Studies consists of four departments: Public Relation, Information Design, Broadcast Media Studies, and Journalism.About Information DesignInformation designers use human-centric processes to deliver the right content, at the right time, to the right audience. A 6-course Information Design Minor is also offered to students from any faculty across campus. We offer a user-centric and research-based educational experience, that is focused on hands-on learning.In addition to supporting students in a transformative education experience, we also offer students a paid work experience between their second and third year of the program. We believe that we provide students with the skills, mindsets and opportunities that are in demand of the current knowledge economy.About the RoleThe candidate will become a key academic collaborator alongside other information design faculty to deliver transformational learning experiences for MRU students.The successful candidate will design, develop and deliver leading edge curriculum with an expectation they can contribute to courses and content focusing on:

  • Principles of Design Thinking and Doing
  • Systems Mapping and Journey mapping
  • Systems Thinking and Change Making
  • The Professional Practice of Information Design
  • Instructional Design
  • Information Design Work Experience Seminar
The successful candidate will be hired into the teaching/ service pattern (TS) which has a focus on teaching and service only.Qualifications
  • A Ph. D. is preferred; a Master’s degree is required.
  • Information design related work experience.
  • A thorough understanding of the role that design thinking and innovation have in the design education experience.
  • Experience of innovative curricular design is also an asset.
  • Candidates should demonstrate excellence in university or college teaching, or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years at a post-secondary institution
  • The ideal candidate will be able to contribute to the design and delivery of curriculum in the areas outlined earlier.
  • The successful applicant must be qualified to teach introductory courses in Principles of Design Thinking and Doing, as well as senior courses in Instructional Design as well as Systems Thinking and Change Making.
