The opportunity:Reporting to the Senior Vice-President & Regional Manager, Western Region, the Associate Vice-President, Western Region will focus on regional strategy and implementation, aligning with corporate targets and initiatives.The Associate Vice-President, Western Region will partner with the Senior Vice-President & Regional Manager, Western Region and the Regional leadership team to develop key relationships with each department head and Advisory teams to deliver against our purpose, culture and priorities.The incumbent will proactively look for opportunities to improve processes by facilitating on-going Advisor meetings and working with partners create solutions. The Associate Vice-President, Western Region will also playing a key role in maintaining a positive culture by creating various initiatives focusing on employees in the Western Region.Key responsibilities include:
  • Communicating, promoting, and reinforcing the strategy and key messages; championing the Wellington-Altus vision and values to create alignment.
  • Focusing on recognition and successes to influence improved Advisor performance and employee commitment to Wellington-Altus.
  • Building a purpose drive culture of leadership and accountability; identifying and removing obstacles to performance, and providing fair and accurate feedback.
  • Possessing strong leadership skills, and having an ability to bring together diverse perspectives to co-create; understanding current realities within the region to create competitive advantage.
  • Identifying issues, diagnosing root causes, providing insights, offering recommendations, and developing proactive solutions to solve pressing business objectives.
  • Facilitating and leading Advisor meetings and calls; building relationships with new Advisor teams and maintaining ongoing relationships with current teams.
  • Building local network and strategic alliances, in addition to strong relationships with National Bank and wholesalers, to proactively seek out business opportunities and to increase brand awareness.
  • Attending corporate events with partners and/or inviting them to events on National and Regional level.
  • Partnering with Facilities, Transitions, HR, Operations, Compliance, Finance and other regional management leaders for all new onboards and recruits.
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders to hire, train, and evaluate employees.
  • Ensuring all employees within the business unit comply with all applicable Wellington-Altus policies, standards, guidelines, and controls.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A minimum 10 years’ leadership experience.
  • A bachelors degree in a related discipline.
  • A masters degree and/or professional certification is considered an asset.
  • Experience in wealth management is an asset.
  • A customer-focused attitude, with a commitment to providing extraordinary service to high-net-worth clients.
  • Exceptional leadership and time, task, and resource management skills.
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking, coaching, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, especially MS Office.
  • An ability to plan for and keep track of multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with budget planning and enforcement, human resources, and compliance.
