Our organization offers a balance between work and your home life and provides options for flexible work arrangements.For further information about Treasury Board and Finance, see our website atRoleAre you a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or working towards the CPA designation with experience in audit, tax administration or the oil and gas industry Do you have knowledge of Albertas corporate tax or royalty regimes and enjoy challenging work The Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA) division is looking for auditors for our corporate tax and energy audit teams. We are an enthusiastic, goal-orientated and knowledgeable team – join us!Reporting to a Senior Manager in the audit branch, you will conduct desk and field audits and reviews of low and medium complexity involving corporate tax and royalty programs. You will be required to perform professional compliance auditing that includes: planning, sample selection, developing audit programs and gaining a comprehension of the auditee’s individual accounting processes, and completion of substantive audit testing. You will use your extensive knowledge and audit skills to ensure that returns are reported accurately under the Acts and Regulations administered by the TRA audit branch. You will also be challenged to demonstrate creativity and innovation in identifying audit efficiencies and adapting to changing environments in Albertas tax programs. As an Auditor, you will also be responsible for identifying potential regulatory or policy issues, as well as providing comprehensive analysis and detailed recommendations to senior management.You must be able to prioritize to ensure you are meeting tight timelines. You will also have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and are able to articulate and present complex issues to a variety of internal/external stakeholders. Strong analytical and interpretative skills as well as attention to detail and accuracy will assist you in this role. The ability to build collaborative environments by establishing positive working relationships and managing multiple assignments simultaneously in support of branch objectives is key.Your Work Environment: As a member of our team, you will enjoy working in a collaborative team environment where you will be supported, valued and enjoy having a great work-life balance.QualificationsA Chartered Professional Accountant designation is preferred.University graduation in commerce, finance, accounting, business administration, or other related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, royalty, taxation administration or audit is required.The following would also be considered as assets:

  • Knowledge of Alberta’s corporate tax provisions
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry and oil sands royalty regulations, policies and procedures
  • Experience auditing taxation or royalty programs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficiency with data analytics tools and techniques
