We are currently recruiting for an experienced Automation Specialist (Systems) for our Automation Support Team in Calgary.Reporting to the Manager, Project and Solutions Operations, the successful candidate will work within a project team applying their knowledge and experience in control system design and implementation to include: configuration, process control, system testing (FAT/SAT), application integration, commissioning and start-up, and optimization of new and existing integrated solutions. Primary technologies are the Emerson DeltaV Process Control System and the DeltaV Safety Instrumented System (DeltaV SIS), as well as Emerson Ovation.Role and Responsibilities:Provide technical application and implementation of Emerson DeltaV Systems (DeltaV and DeltaV SIS) solutions to customers and maintain awareness of their technical requirementsLeverage DeltaV technologies to improve/optimize performance at customer facilitiesSystem Design:Work with customers’ process and electrical engineers to define functional requirementsWork with Spartan electrical engineering to support design of system architectures, network architectures, third party interfaces, and control and marshalling cabinetsWork with the Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) department to produce drawingsSystem configuration:Configure control strategies, shutdown keys, and Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs)Develop Human-Machine Interface (HMI) graphicsInterface with third party products (PLCs, HMIs, OPC Clients, Historians)Internal verification and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT):Support internal hardware testingConduct internal software acceptance testingConduct hardware and software Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with customersSupport System Integration Functional Testing (SIFT)Plant commissioning at customer facilities:Site Acceptance Testing with customers (SAT)Loop checksHuman Machine Interface (HMI) and configuration function testingThird party interface checksIntegration with enterprise / business systemsPlant Information Management Systems (PIMS)Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)Asset Management Systems (AMS)Historians (PI)Operations support for:TroubleshootingMaintenanceAlarm managementTuning and characterizationDocumentationCollaborate with the project team, engineering consultants and customers in resolving technical issuesAct as a trusted technical advisor for the customer, focusing on providing expertise and valueProactively contribute to team learning and knowledge sharingProvide technical support for sales teams as requiredProvide input into improvement of engineering and service processes and practicesParticipate in 7/24 phone support rotation (approximately 1 x 1 week rotations per year)Qualifications and Skills:Instrumentation Engineering Technologist Diploma or B.Sc. in Electrical, Computer or Chemical Engineering is required5+ years’ experience with Emerson DeltaV and/or DeltaV SISProcess control system and/or safety instrumented systems experienceConfiguration of command driven sequences is an assetConfiguration of Emerson Ovation is an assetExperience in network and architecture design is an assetExperience with the following programming languages is an asset:VBAVB.NetSQLJAVA scriptExperience with field instrumentation, HART protocols and device files; DeviceNet, ProfiBus, ModbusStrong technical, computer and networking skillsExceptional communication skills and customer service practicesAbility to successfully manage multiple priorities and assignmentsAbility to work independently and within a team environmentEntrepreneurial work ethicSafety conscious and able to complete applicable safety training (e.g. H2S Alive, CSTS, First Aid, etc.)Willingness to travel to customer facilities; valid Class 5 driver license requiredClose Date: 11:59 pm (MDT) May 28, 2021IND123
