Schott’s Lake is looking for an experienced Baker /Pastry Chef to round out our team and be a cornerstone to our success.Schott’s Lake Conference and Resort is located just 90 mins from Calgary/180 mins from Edmonton in a rural setting (17km West of Sundre, Alberta) and caters to local foodies as well as regional/international guests and special events/seasonal type of activities. We are passionate about cooking from scratch with local ingredients to create exceptional cuisine. This will be a pivotal role within our team and the successful candidate will be looking for the opportunity to engage our customers, wowing them with his/her culinary talent and exceptional personality, and motivating staff with their passion for food.The Position Will...

  • Create dishes that are made from scratch using products that are grown and sourced locally
  • Work alongside staff to create healthy and delicious meals to be served to our guests, paying attention to not only taste but also presentation and the food service experience
  • Get to know our customers, building a relationship and listening to their feedback to help improve our culinary offerings and service
  • Champion the Schott’s Lake brand; embrace local suppliers and local sourcing opportunities, create delicious baked items using preparation techniques that maintain the nutritious content of the food
  • Assist in managing the aspects of the business which can include; budget, talent management, client and customer relations, inventory, food health and safety, and overall operational excellence
You Bring to the Table…
  • Advanced Food Safety
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the hospitality / food service industry
  • Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Extensive knowledge of menu costing and inventory control/recipe card implementation
  • Excellent practical and theoretical background in pastry/bakery and banquets (dealing with large numbers of guests.
